My EDGE Project was to produce a play. I chose this for my project because it took the skills and knowledge I acquired while in pursuit of my degree and tested them in a real life and career impacting way that gave me a strong and competitive project to had to my life experience and resume. With the role of producer, I selected, casted and put on a full-length production of my chosen script, “Stupid F**cking Bird” by Aaron Posner. I obtained funding for this project through application for the SUU Theatre Arts department Black Box Grant in order to pay for show rights, scripts and performance space. I marketed the event and maintained the production, rehearsal and performance schedule resulting in 40+ hours of preparation leading finally to the final performance nights. I believe the production process to be a very important part of the performing arts world. With this project, I left a positive and profound impact on my cast, crew, and audience members. I found this work to be challenging but it all come out successful with help from skills obtained through the EDGE leadership track.
